Of course, that label gives Fundi wide latitude to mix in endless subgenres and offshoots and tangential explorations and call it all "jazz." But in episode 18 -- "local drizzle" -- Fundi plays it pretty straight (for once) and serves up something fairly traditional.

Flavors range from the classics -- Donald Byrd, Hank Mobley, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone -- to newer players on the scene, like Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau and Manu Katche. throw in some masters that span several epochs, like Charles Lloyd, John Scofield and Herbie Hancock, and now you got something to work with! Deft use of unique spicings -- moody scandanvian and french players, tablas and a grand piano, off-kilter and right in the pocket -- makes this a soundscape you'll turn to often.
